A group of students at St. Theresa School in Kalihi got the chance to meet and train with a pair of NCAA Division I volleyball players this month as alumni sisters Chloe and Paisley Kaahanui returned to campus to host a workout clinic and question-and-answer session.

Chloe Kaahanui, a 2016 St. Theresa graduate, is a graduate student and a setter at Quinnipiac University in Connecticut. Paisley Kaahanui, a 2020 St. Theresa graduate, is a sophomore setter at Niagara University in New York. Both spent their high school years at Punahou School.

More than a dozen students in fourth through eighth grades attended the Jan. 7 training session, which was aimed at helping the young athletes boost their confidence and skills.

Chloe Kaahanui shared the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference championship award she earned with the Quinnipiac Bobcats, and the Kaahanuis also described their experiences as student-athletes and gave out mini signed volleyballs, signed photos and gift cards.

The sisters are grateful for the support they received from St. Theresa over the years, including from Principal Bernie Gora, said their mother, Gisele Kaahanui, who added that they were thrilled at the opportunity to give back to their alma mater and to “be part of something bigger.”
