Special to the Herald

Holy Rosary Church in Keaau held its annual Flores de Mayo-Santa Cruzan Festival on May 18 with the theme “Together with Mary, we are called to give witness to God’s love.” are to honor our Mother Mary and to reach out to people in the community (evangelization).

The festival started with a procession and praying of the holy rosary followed by Mass. A program and potluck fellowship followed with lots of donated food, including a lechon. Different groups from the East Hawaii Vicariate provided cultural dances and Christian songs.

It was well attended and everyone had lots of fun. Thank you to all who made this event successful especially to all the families who encouraged their children’s participation and parishioners who worked diligently in soliciting for advertisements with goal in mind that monies collected will help maintain our church. The rest will be donated to the parish food pantry.
