Special to the Herald

At the 5 p.m. Mass on April 13 at St. Joseph Church in Hilo, three children from Holy Rosary Church in Keaau — Chanelle Cabaccang, Joshua Foronda and Isaia-Edmunds Wong — and two from St. Theresa Church in Mountain View — Jackson David and Maykala Valencia — received their first holy Communion and confirmation from Bishop Larry Silva.

Thank you to parents and guardians Rey and Maritess Cabaccang; Joel and Marjorie Foronda; Yvonne Wong; Mercy Valencia; and Cristi and James David II. Thanks also to the religious education coordinators and teachers who helped mold these children: Ceraida Amar, Joyce Padamada and Chasity Subia of Holy Rosary, and Roquita Kaisen and Dana Jones of St. Theresa.

Also, thank you to our pastor, Father Samuel Loterte, who encourages his parishioners to fulfill the parish mission statement and for being an excellent formator and spiritual leader.
