My Easter challenge

Special to the Herald

Throughout Lent, I reflected with our parishioners at St. Anthony Church in Wailuku on the sacrament of baptism.

On each Sunday, I preached on a section of the rite of baptism. The season is a preparation for catechumens for their baptism at the Easter Vigil, and a preparation for Easter Sunday when all renew their baptismal promises.

I challenged our parishioners to wear white on Easter Sunday for the renewal of those promises. I was happy that many took up the challenge. It was a beautiful witness to see many of the faithful at Mass in white garments.

Father Tui is parochial vicar of St. Anthony Church in Wailuku.
