Marianist talk on God, democracy

02/14/2024 by Hawaii Catholic Herald

The next presenter in the Marianist Lecture Series at Chaminade University’s Mystical Rose Oratory is a national leader in Catholic education.

Award-winning lecturer and writer Steve Neiheisel will speak on “God and Democracy: Catholic Perspectives on the American Experiment,” at 4 p.m. Feb. 18 in the oratory on the university campus.

Neiheisel served as a professor of political science at St. Mary’s University and the University of Dayton and most recently as executive director of the Association of Marianist Universities.

He holds an advanced degree in theology from the University of Notre Dame and another in political science from the Washington University in St. Louis. He lives in Austin, Texas.

The lecture is free and open to the public. It will also be livestreamed.

Sponsored by the Marianist Center of Hawaii, Chaminade University and St. Louis School, the Marianist Lecture Series serves to foster inclusive dialogue on Catholic thought and Catholic responsibility.
