CatholicTV, otherwise known in Hawaii as KUPU-TV, is temporarily off the air. The channel that carried the popular Catholic television network, known for its video Masses, rosaries, chaplets, and other faith-filled programming, has new owners. CatholicTV will be back on air in mid or late January on 14 KEKE-TV.
Viewers are still able to enjoy CatholicTV on YouTube, and on its website CatholicTV.com. If you have a smart TV, you can view it on ROKU, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, Google Chromecast, and Samsung Smart TVs.
CatholicTV came out of the Archdiocese of Boston in 1955. It started off sharing the channel with local commercials and programming. Then in 1964 it became the first full-time Catholic television station in the world. It included daily and Sunday Mass, and faith-based entertainment.
In 2006, the channel adopted the slogan “America’s Catholic Television Network,” and later made an agreement with Canadian Channel Salt + Light Television.
They have since branched out, reaching more than 13 million households.
CatholicTV has become one of the top 100 television stations in the United States.
