Photo: A legacy of generosity

11/08/2023 by Hawaii Catholic Herald

Daniel J. Del Monte Jr. is a 30-year parishioner of St. John Apostle and Evangelist Church in Mililani who is so grateful for the friendship of the late Richard and Kristin “Kiddy” DeCoster, also of St. John, that he built Kiddy’s Playground for the parish preschool, established a Kiddy scholarship fund for the school and published a 72-page full-color glossy large format photo book in honor of Kiddy (inset), whose generosity and voluntarism knew no bounds. Pictured above is the cover of the book which has a photo of the playground dedication plaque. DeCoster gave her time, energy, handicrafts and money to cancer patients, military families, her parish and many other causes. Kiddy died in 2021, but if you want to continue her giving spirit, go the HawaiiCommunityFoundation.org, click on “Give” and select “Kiddy’s Fund.” Or send a check to Hawaii Community Foundation, 827 Fort Street Mall, Honolulu, HI 96813. If you would like your own copy of “Kiddy’s book,” email Del Monte at ddelmonte@hawaii.rr.com. It costs $52.25 plus postage. (HCH photo)
