The Catholic Men’s Fellowship of Hawaii and the Knights of Columbus, with the support of the Diocese of Honolulu, are sponsoring a one-day Catholic men’s conference, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 26, at St Ann Church in Kaneohe. The theme: “Valiant Discipleship.”
“We want to bring together men and discuss the virtues of being a disciple of Jesus,” organizers said, “to help renew their minds and transform their hearts for Jesus Christ.”
The day will feature guest presenter Father Larry Richards, a priest of the Diocese of Erie, Pennsylvania, who is a gifted and captivating speaker, preacher, retreat master and author.
Father Richards will celebrate Mass and give three talks throughout the day, “How to Pray,” “Confession,” and “Laying Down Your Life for God and Others.”
Kainoa Fukumoto will be the local speaker. Confessions will be heard during lunch.
Father Richards will also celebrate Mass, open to the general public, 6 p.m. the next day, Sunday, Aug. 27, at St. Ann, followed by the talk “The Truth.”
The guest speaker is founder and president of The Reason for Our Hope Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to spreading the Good News by educating others about Jesus Christ and the Catholic faith through multiple media resources.
Father Richards is the author of the Ignatius Press best seller “Be a Man! Becoming the Man God Created You to Be,” and “Surrender! The Life-Changing Power of Doing God’s Will,” published by Our Sunday Visitor.
