Photo: May crowning

May crowning

The Filipino Catholic Club of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Ewa Beach celebrated the traditional May crowning of the statue of Mary on May 20 with a sumptuous lunch followed by 5 p.m. Mass. Devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary during the month of May is energized by her many apparitions: Our Lady of Guadalupe, Our Lady of Fatima, Our Lady of La Salette and Our Lady of Lourdes, to name a few. We honor the Blessed Mother with a crown of flowers, befitting her status as Queen of Heaven, the perfect follower of God and mother of Jesus. (Photo and story courtesy of Pacita Baron)
