05/24/2023 by Hawaii Catholic Herald

Julia Golding, the music teacher and performing arts director at St. Anthony School in Wailuku, Maui, is the 2023 Golden Pineapple Teacher of the Year. She was recognized at a May 19 Hawaii Catholic Schools luncheon. She receives a $1,000 award from Chaminade University and John C. and Mary Lou Brogan and St. Anthony School receives a $1,000 from the Augustine Educational Foundation to be used for professional development.

Above, in an announcement that took her by surprise, Margaret Rufo, the principal of Mary, Star of the Sea School in Waialae-Kahala, is the first winner of the Golden Pineapple Administrator of the Year award and receives $500 from the same donors. On the left in both photos is the superintendent of Hawaii Catholic schools Llewellyn Young. In the center is Lynn Babington president of Chaminade University of Honolulu.
