Photo: A colorful tradition

02/15/2023 by Hawaii Catholic Herald

Following Filipino tradition, parishioners process outside the Co-Cathedral of St. Theresa Jan. 28 carrying images of Santo Nino, the baby Jesus, commemorating the day the original Santo Nino statue was given as a gift from European explorers to Philippine royalty on the occasion of their conversion to Christianity in 1521. The participants included members of the co-cathedral, St. Anthony Parish in Kalihi and Our Lady of the Mount Parish in Kalihi Valley. (Photo courtesy of Dann Ebina)
