St. Jude Parish, Kapolei, Knight of Columbus Lito Alvarez has been serving as interim District Master of the Fourth Degree Knights in Hawaii since Nov. 1, 2021. He was officially appointed by Supreme Master Dennis Stoddard to a two-year term, Sept. 1, 2022, to Aug. 31, 2024.
Alvarez is a convert to the Catholic Faith. He completed the RCIA program in 2001, while he and his wife Amy, whom he married in 1983, lived in San Diego, California. Also in 2001, he joined the Knights of Columbus and began serving in several leadership positions including Grand Knight and District Deputy.
He received the Star Council Award as Grand Knight and the Star District Award as District Deputy.
In 2010, he attained the highest degree in the Knights, the Fourth Degree, also known as the Patriotic Degree, and received the title of Sir Knight. In San Diego he served as Faithful Navigator, Faithful Captain and Faithful Admiral of his local assembly.
Since moving with Amy to Kapolei in 2015, Alvarez served the organization in a variety of leadership positions at the state, district and council levels.
At the state level, he has been State Treasurer, State Advocate, State Warden, State Program Director and State Ceremonial Chairman.
At the district level, he has served as District Deputy.
At the council level, Alvarez has served as Grand Knight, Chancellor and Trustee.
Currently he is Grand Knight, Program Director, Faith Director and Vocations Director of St. Jude Council 12733.
As a Sir Knight, he served as Faithful Navigator, Faithful Captain, Faithful Comptroller, Faithful Admiral and Color Corps Commander of his local Assembly, St. Damien 3221, at St. Jude. Prior to being appointed District Master, he served as District Marshall, participating in church, civic and patriotic events throughout the Diocese of Honolulu.
Alvarez and his wife, who is a member of the Lady Knights, the Women’s Auxiliary of the Hawaii Knights, are parishioners at St. Jude Parish where he is on the pastoral council, a volunteer RCIA teacher and a mentor for a catechist.
