The Kauai Council of Filipino Catholic Clubs will host the 72nd annual Convention of the Diocesan Congress of Filipino Catholic Clubs Nov. 4-6 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Kapaa, Kauai.
The theme of the convention is “The Eucharist Source and Summit of Our Christian Life.”
Members of the four island councils of Filipino Catholic Clubs — Big Island, Kauai, Maui and Oahu — will attend.
This is the first in-person convention since the one in November 2019 in Hilo. In-person conventions were not held in 2020 and 2021 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Here are the highlights of the 2022 event:
- Friday, Nov. 4, Tom and Debbie Sategna of Immaculate Conception Parish in Lihue will speak on “The Eucharist and Family.”
- Saturday, Nov. 5, workshop I, “The Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist” will be presented by Father Nicholas Apetorgbor.
- Saturday, Nov. 5, workshop II, “The Eucharist as the Highest Form of Prayer,” will be presented by La Salette Father Edison Pamintuan.
- Bishop Larry Silva will give the keynote address, “The Eucharist: Communion with Christ and the Church.”
- Sunday, Nov. 6, convention evaluation and the transfer of leadership to the newly elected diocesan congress officers of the Maui council.
