On the morning of July 9, in Kapolei’s St. Jude Church, Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree District Master Lito Alvarez installed the 2022-2023 assembly officers for six District of Hawaii Fourth Degree assemblies on Oahu and Hawaii island. Knights of the Fourth Degree and their families were there, while others attended virtually.
The day began with Mass celebrated by Father Boniface Sakala, Faithful Friar of the Bishop Sweeney Assembly. The Mass ended with a stirring rendition of “America the Beautiful.”
After Mass, a Fourth Degree color corps presented and posted the national and Hawaii flags as the national and Hawaii anthems were sung. Father Sakala blessed the assembly officers’ jewels (emblems) of office. Alvarez asked each assembly officer to be installed to promise to adhere to his responsibilities as Knights of Columbus in the performance of his duties in his respective office. Each officer was then invested with his jewel of office.
After the installation, a delicious potluck meal was served for the newly installed assembly officers and their families.
