Bishop Larry Silva ordained Arrion Rosales-Llantos a transitional deacon July 1 at his home parish of St. Michael in Kailua-Kona. About a dozen priests and five deacons participated in the ordination.

In attendance were the new deacon’s parents, Philippine immigrants Errol Llantos and Lovette Rosales-Llantos of Kona and family members Lourdes Perlas Rosales and Christina Andreyko.

Special guests included Robert “Bobby” Command, Deputy Managing Director for Hawaii island Mayor Mitch Roth; and Barbara Kossow, administrative specialist to the mayor’s office of Hawaii County.

Deacon Rosales-Llantos, 26, is a 2013 graduate of Kealakehe High School. He attended the University of Hawaii-Hilo for two years before enrolling in Mt. Angel Seminary in Oregon, graduating in 2018 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in philosophy.

He has one more year of study toward his Master of Divinity degree at St. Patrick’s Seminary and University in Menlo Park, California. He is set to be ordained a priest after graduating in 2023.
