Photos: Taking Christ to the street

07/06/2022 by Hawaii Catholic Herald

Top, acolytes lead the Corpus Christi procession up Nuuanu Avenue about a block from their destination, the Cathedral Basilica of Our Lady of Peace, June 19, where Bishop Larry Silva presided over Benediction. The mile-and-a-half long procession started at the Co-Cathedral of St. Theresa at noon. The celebration of the feast of Corpus Christi marked the start of Hawaii’s participation in the three-year National Eucharistic Revival sponsored by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops. The focus for the first year in the diocese will be eucharistic catechesis, “teaching Masses” and encouraging Holy Hours. Below, Deacon Raymond Lamb hands the monstrance holding the blessed Sacrament to Bishop Larry Silva at the end of the procession in front of the cathedral. (Photos courtesy of Dann Ebina)
