Here is a list of local services for women with crisis pregnancies and new mothers in need. Some programs are affiliated with the Catholic Church, some are not.

Provides pregnancy testing, ultrasound, pregnancy options counseling. Offers a support group for single pregnant women and in-person childbirth classes. Post-birth services include baby and maternity supplies, online parenting, life-skill and fatherhood classes. Also offers post-abortion recovery classes.

Post-birth services include the Baby & Me Boutique, which is stocked with baby clothes, diapers, wipes, food, formula, strollers, car seats and other items necessary for a new baby. Also provides referrals to doctors, government services, adoption agencies and organizations that can help with finances, food, medical bills, housing and more.

Post-birth services include lactation counseling, baby supplies, and in-home help with housekeeping, grocery shopping and meal preparation. Also offers mental health assistance, grief recovery sessions and life-coaching. General medical services include STD testing and treatment, pelvic exams/paps and breast exam referrals.

A safe, communal residence for pregnant women who lack sufficient support, providing counseling and classes in infant care, childbirth and valuable life skills to prepare them for a healthy pregnancy and birth. Women may stay through four months after birth, during which time the program helps them transition to work or school and housing. It also connects them with other support like food stamps and general assistance. Home visits teach parenting skills.

A 14-unit facility that provides a temporary, transitional place to stay for families in urban Honolulu and supportive services which include resources and assistance to obtain permanent housing or other appropriate services in 90 days or less.

Assists individuals in Leeward Oahu with housing services focused on homeless families with children under the age of 19; services include transitional housing, case management, employment training, budgeting, and education classes to help families become self-sufficient and obtain affordable permanent housing.

GENERAL RESOURCES

Catholic parishes

Most parishes in Hawaii have outreach ministries, many of which provide new mothers with food and clothing and baby supplies.

Walking with Moms in Need

This is a nationwide initiative was created by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops to have the nation’s parishes “walk with moms in need,” by identifying local pregnancy help resources in their communities that are currently available to a woman facing a difficult pregnancy.

Knights of Columbus

This fraternal organization of Catholic men raises money to support pregnancy resource centers and pro-life initiatives.

Diocesan Respect Life Office

Provides parishes with information and resources to help develop and support activities that support a culture of life, including pro-life advocacy and natural family planning. It also offers post-abortion counseling and spiritual support through programs such as Rachel’s Vineyard and Project Rachel.
