Seeking Christ together

An Island Catholic lay movement that started here more than 25 years ago will celebrate a major milestone on the first weekend of May.

The Basic Christian Community of Hawaii, or BCC, will conduct its 100th adult retreat May 4-6 at St. Anthony Retreat Center in Kalihi Valley.

Born out of the inspiration of 12 local lay Catholics, the BCC has grown over the years to touch the lives of thousands of people through its retreats and weekly gatherings. The movement is based on the idea that faith is best experienced in the context of a community — in mutual sharing, support and the study of Scripture.
