Calvin Lee Takes Helm of St. Louis Football Post

The Reverend William A. O’Connell, St. Louis High School principal, today announced the appointment of Calvin Lee as head varsity football coach.

Calvin, 25, succeeds his brother, Tommy, 30, to the top grid post. The appointment came just two weeks after Tommy Lee accepted the position of first assistant to Willamette University varsity football coach, Joe Sheffield.

Calvin, a 1964 Kalani High School graduate, joined the St. Louis faculty as a physical education instructor last fall. Along with his teaching assignment, Lee assisted his brother as varsity offensive line coach, and coached the Saints’ jayvee soccer team to an ILH championship.

Editor’s Note: Lee would go on to a long and successful football coaching career at St. Louis as well as with the University of Hawaii.
