Mary Jane Center comes of age

The residential program which turns problem pregnancies into new beginnings is looking for a new home.

The primary purpose of the Mary Jane Center is turning a problem pregnancy into a positive experience and a healthy start for mother and child. … The center will have its own turning point at the end of this year. It is leaving the place nestled in Kalihi Valley where it has grown and matured for the past 21 years [St. Anthony Retreat Center].

Diocesan center drills for water to offset low-flowing springs

Residents, diocesan staff and retreat groups at St. Stephen Diocesan Center in Kaneohe will be hearing the sounds of heavy drilling and construction equipment over the next few months.

That’s because the center’s water system is in the process of being upgraded. Plans have been underway since December 2011 to create a more stable source of water for the center, which presently relies on springs in the Koolau Mountains for plumbing and drinking.
