The Spirit of Christmas at St. Joseph’s, Waipahu
In order to foster in the children the Spirit of Giving at this Christmas Season in imitation of God the Father Who gave His Son as His Greatest Gift to mankind, the children, faculty, and cafeteria staff at St. Joseph’s have adopted a Christ-Child Family to provide food and gifts for this Christmas. Needy families whose family names are unknown to the children, were obtained through the cooperation of the Catholic Social Services. The students planned their Christmas menu and gifts for each person in the family and shared in the giving to their Christ-Child Family. Sixteen needy families were helped through their generosity.

Station return
Two Stations of the Cross which originally hung in Our Lady of Peace Cathedral in the days of Blessed Damien and Mother Marianne returned this month. Cathedral administrator Ed Vargas examines the 120-year-old 11th station, “Jesus is Nailed to the Cross.” Also making its homecoming was the 10th station, “Jesus is Stripped of His Garment.” The moody French paintings are displayed to the left and right of the old sanctuary. The other 12 stations are in the diocese archives in need of repair.
