Photos: In the company of priests

In the company of priests

If you wondered where your parish priests disappeared to last week, they were all on Oahu’s north shore at the Turtle Bay Resort for their annual Convocation of Priests, five days away for the men to put aside their collars and cassocks and contemplate, talk, pray, learn, listen, socialize and play music. More than 80 priests attended the Nov. 29 to Dec. 3 gathering. Top photo, Hawaii’s priests pose for a group shot. Second row from left, Father Pascual Abaya, rector of the Cathedral Basilica of Our Lady of Peace; a musical priestly foursome entertains; La Salette Father Edwin Conselva, pastor of St. Theresa Parish in Kekaha. Third row, the most recently ordained, Father Ese’ese Tui, presides at Mass; communal meal time. (Photos courtesy of Dann Ebina)
