Msgr. Etuale, priest of Samoa who had served in Hawaii, dies

Msgr. Etuale Etuale

Msgr. Etuale Etuale, a priest of the Archdiocese of Samoa-Apia who had served several years in Hawaii, died Nov. 8 in Apia, Samoa. He was 72.

In Hawaii, Msgr. Etuale worked at St. John the Baptist Parish, Kalihi; Our Lady of the Mount Parish, Kalihi Valley; and Sacred Heart Parish, Pahoa.

Originally from Samoa, he was incardinated into the Diocese of Honolulu in November 1990.

He left Hawaii around 2003 to work “on loan” to the Archdiocese of Samoa-Apia and was incardinated there on March 30, 2011. He received the title “monsignor” in Samoa.

Funeral services were scheduled for Nov. 15 at the Immaculate Conception Cathedral in Apia, Samoa.
