Photo: Scholarship aid

04/14/2021 by Hawaii Catholic Herald

Augustine Educational Foundation director Sue Ferandin laughs as she’s handed a bag of cash and coins equaling $665.05, the amount collected by fourth-graders at St. John Vianney School in Kailua for the organization, which gives scholarships to Hawaii Catholic school students. The students chose AEF as their cause after discussing various ways they could give back with their teacher, Earleen Victorino. The fourth graders also have weekly Zoom calls during religion class with two Diocese of Honolulu seminarians, Kurt Meyer and Taylor Mitchell, who encouraged them to pick some act of service to do for Lent.
