Chaminade University of Honolulu on March 3 named Pamela D. Smith as associate dean of the School of Nursing and Health Professions. She will lead the university’s community and public health program and the doctorate of nursing practice program, now awaiting certification.
Smith brings more than 20 years of nursing, health sciences and administrative experience to the position at Chaminade. Most recently she served as chief nursing administrator and chairwoman of the nursing department at Hawaii Pacific University where she was also the family nurse practitioner coordinator, director of clinical facilities, and associate chief nurse administrator. She has worked as a nurse practitioner in clinics and hospitals on Oahu in primary care and surgical practice.
Smith is also active in professional and community organizations, including the Hawaii Medical Reserve Corp. assisting with COVID response and vaccine administration. She also serves on statewide committees and task forces with the Hawaii State Center for Nursing.
Smith received her doctorate of education in educational leadership from the University of New England; a master of science in nursing from Hawaii Pacific University; bachelor of science in nursing from Johns Hopkins University; and a bachelor of science in nutrition from Bastyr University.
