Daughters of St. Paul annual Christmas tour goes virtual

12/09/2020 by Hawaii Catholic Herald

The Daughters of St. Paul Choir usually sets out around this time of year for their annual Christmas concert tour. For more than 20 years, the sisters have put on concerts in keeping with their mission to evangelize through media. Last year the sisters had a packed schedule that included concert extravaganzas in New York, Boston, Saint Louis, Cleveland, New Orleans, Lafayette, Southern Illinois, Los Angeles and Orange County. This year, however, due to the pandemic most people will be home for Christmas. So, the sisters decided to try something new.

“This has been a tough year for everyone, so the choir didn’t want to just cancel our Christmas concert,” said choir director Sister Margaret Timothy Sato. “We wanted to find a way to still bring people the joy of the Christmas message.”

With the help of Spirit Juice Studios and several tech-savvy sisters, the choir decided to put on its first-ever virtual concert. Beginning Dec. 3, the sisters streamed their concert for free worldwide from their YouTube channel. Here is the link: youtu.be/jJzNz6W9Atk.

Concert proceeds will go to a new initiative called the Daughters’ Project. Funds will support the sisters’ efforts to be more present online. “The digital world needs the light of the Gospel and we are called in a special way by our founder, Blessed James Alberione, to evangelize using modern media,” said Theresa Aletheia Noble, one of the many Daughters of Saint Paul who is active online in her free time.

The sisters hope the concert will generate financial support to bring the light of the Gospel to the online world. Anyone interested in supporting the Daughters’ Project can find out more at www.thedaughtersproject.com.
