Christmas family reunions canceled this year

11/25/2020 by Hawaii Catholic Herald

“Star Light, Star Bright,” the annual Christmas event that brings women inmates on Oahu together with their families, has been canceled this year due to COVID-19.

But you can still continue to support the families of those incarcerated.

The Oahu Going Home Consortium-OGHC, a group made up of parishes, non-profits and government agencies, is putting together “Sending Love from Star Light, Star Bright” bags for children with parents in Hawaii correctional facilities. The bags will have Christmas arts and crafts activities for the families, Christmas cards, calendars, age-appropriate gifts to be determined and gift cards.

You can donate to these bags at catholichawaii.org/starlight-fund. Or make checks payable to: Roman Catholic Church and mail to Star Light, Star Bright – St. Stephen Diocesan Center, 6301 Pali Hwy, Kaneohe, HI 96744.
