WELL RECEIVED—Mr. Jay Field, Hawaii Foundation for American Freedom, Inc., spoke at one of the workshops of the annual Holy Name Convention on Kauai last weekend. His talk was well received and for many men the talk was a revelation on the dangers that lurk beneath the surface of our complacent society. Mr. Field is most knowledgeable on the subject of subversion within America and especially within the state of Hawaii. His talk and those of other guest speakers made the convention a great success for the Holy Name men. (Photo by Sideline, Lihue)

Walking the walk
The Mayor of Honolulu Jeremy Harris, center, and other community leaders, including Bishop Francis X. DiLorenzo, marched through downtown Honolulu streets Oct. 19 to show their concern for the women victims of domestic violence. The first ever Men’s March Against Violence was sponsored by Catholic Services to Families, an agency of Catholic Charities. “Domestic violence … is a problem we can no longer ignore, no longer push under the carpet,” said the mayor. Not your father’s blackboard
Hawaii Catholic schools are jumping on board, so to speak, with the latest in educational technology – Promethean boards. These new tools combine traditional classroom instruction with multi-sensory software on a big, friendly white electronic panel.
“It’s a great learning tool,” said Cathedral Catholic Academy principal Jaydee Wagner. “This is the direction the world is going.”
Cathedral is one of four Catholic schools to recently invest in Promethean. The others are St. Joseph School in Waipahu, St. Theresa School in Honolulu and Our Lady of Good Counsel School in Pearl City. More are interested.
