Photo: Compassion in Kapolei

05/27/2020 by Hawaii Catholic Herald

Kapolei’s St. Jude Parish outreach ministry twice-weekly serves as many as 600 adults and children who are homeless, sheltered, veterans from as far away as Aiea, Pearl City, Waipahu, Ewa Beach and Waianae.

The ministry has been busy even before the pandemic. Under the leadership of outreach ministry director Carolyn Won, pictured, and her dynamic team, the parish receives generous donations from Food Bank of Hawaii, Safeway, Aloha Harvest and individual donors.

Special kudos go to pastor Father Khanh Hoang and parochial vicar Father Vincent Vu who take turns helping parishioners and non-parishioners alike. They continue to offer daily Mass intentions in their home in response to daily calls from all walks of life from people seeking solace, blessings and last rites.
