To help parents struggling to keep their children focused on their schools’ “distance learning,” and behaving in general, during the pandemic stay-at-home orders, Sarah and David Herrmann of Embrace Family Learning are offering a series of three free “Parenting for Success” webinars available for viewing through June.
The married couple is offering the session in partnership with Mike Rockers, superintendent of Hawaii Catholic Schools, and Celeste Akiu, principal at Holy Family Catholic Academy and Early Learning Center.
These 30-minute webinars offer simple, effective, faith-based tools that parents can immediately implement with their children to foster a calmer and more focused family and learning environment.
The webinars are entitled:
- Putting an End to Arguing, Back Talk and Begging
- Teaching Responsibility without Losing Their Love
- Guiding Kids to Own and Solve Their Own Problems
All three webinars in the series have been recorded and are available to be viewed now through June 30 at EmbraceFamilyLearning.com. The Herrmanns have created “Parenting for Success” handouts to accompany these webinars available on their website. Some highlights include:
Allow your kids to make affordable mistakes today, and let them learn the natural consequences to resolve the situation. Do not rescue them. They are smart, strong, spiritual, and need the opportunity to fix it and learn.
Like us, our children seek attention and control. The goal is to increase the healthy ways they can gain this (connecting with them, loving relationships, prayer) and decrease the unhealthy ways (nagging, arguing).
A primary skill we can teach our children is to become confident as decision-makers and problem-solvers beginning at home.
Empathy allows us to lovingly hold our children firmly accountable without losing their love and respect.
Sarah Herrmann hopes parents will find the webinars helpful and inspiring.
“We are honored to help support parents as they journey through these challenging times, and hope that we can make families stronger and more faith-filled in the process,” she said. “We are passionate about supporting parents, so if you have any questions, feel free to reach out to us!”
David Herrmann grew up in Hawaii, and as a family with Sarah, has lived here for almost a decade. David’s background is in business management and Sarah has more than 30 years’ experience in Catholic schools and parishes as a teacher, principal, and in-service provider.
Their company, Embrace Family Learning, provides faith-based proactive parenting classes, tutoring and educational consulting. They call themselves the “Happy Herrmanns” and are continuously eager to see where God is leading them to serve.
