Forever and Dever: After 41 remarkable years, Hawaii’s superintendent of Catholic Schools will soon retire

Sometime within the next 12 months this institution will step aside and retire.

Msgr. Daniel Joseph Dever would probably wince at being compared to the cold image of an institution, but the metaphor is offered affectionately and with some humor. For Msgr. Dever has been the superintendent of Catholic schools in Hawaii for 41 years! Forty-one years – an almost ridiculous length of time if it were not so remarkable!
