Photo: Unified by the cross

02/05/2020 by Hawaii Catholic Herald

Participants in the 2020 Prayer for Christian Unity at the Newman Center, University of Hawaii-Manoa, pray around the Taize cross Jan. 24. The annual event, hosted by the Diocese of Honolulu, brings together Catholic, Protestant, Orthodox, Eastern Rite and other Christians in supplication for unity. The Taize prayer service, which includes hymns, Scripture readings, and the veneration of an icon of the crucifix, developed at the ecumenical monastic community in Taize, France. This year’s prayer theme, taken from Acts 28:2, was “They showed us unusual kindness.” (Photo courtesy Dann Ebina)
