On the evening of Nov. 30, the catechists and youth group of Blessed Sacrament Church in Pauoa organized a Prom Advent evening by inviting guests to the 5 p.m. Mass and the potluck dinner that followed in the parish hall.
The entrance of the hall was decked out with purple and white balloons and green palms brightened the inside which included a stage area for picture-taking.
The tables were beautifully set with seasonal tablecloths and Advent wreaths made that morning by catechists and the environmental team.
The program began with an introduction of those present followed by a prayer and a delicious dinner to start the season of Advent.
Music drew participants to the dance floor where catechist Diana Leuta livened the evening with her dance talent. She led the little ones to the floor and the youth with the line dance. Everyone enjoyed themselves.
Before the evening ended, Deacon Joseph Soon blessed all the Advent wreaths and each family took one home.
Thanks go to Onolata Soon for her idea of the Prom Advent, Michael and Dree Ocier for coordinating the decorations, Heidi Patu for the pine branches for the wreaths, and to all who helped bring the supplies, made the wreaths and set up the hall.
