The Hawaii Catholic schools office recently announced its winners of the Vocations Awareness Art Contest for students in Catholic schools from kindergarten through grade eight.
The theme for this year’s vocations awareness art contest was “Vocations — Listening to and Acting on God’s Call to Serve,” commemorating Vocations Awareness Week, Nov. 3-9.
The schools office, in collaboration with the director of vocations for the Diocese of Honolulu, Father Joseph R. Diaz, sponsored the contest for students in Hawaii’s 31 Catholic schools.
The art was divided into three levels: kindergarten-second grade, third-fifth grade, and sixth-eighth grade. The Serra Club on Honolulu donated the prize money, $200 for each first place winner, $100 for second place winners and $50 for third place.

KINDERGARTEN-SECOND GRADE
- First: “Saying ‘Yes’ to God’s Call” by Andee Lynn Eleccion, second grade, Our Lady of Good Counsel School, Pearl City
- Second: “I Pray and Serve God” by Aliyah Garcia, first grade, St. John the Baptist School, Kalihi
- Third: “Rainbows” by Kysten Cabral, kindergarten, St. John Vianney School, Kailua
THIRD-FIFTH GRADE
- First: “Jesus Calls Us” by Grace Delehanty, fifth grade, St. Anthony School, Kailua
- Second: “Holy Matrimony” by Daniel Cortel, fifth grade, Our Lady of Good Counsel School, Pearl City
- Third: “God is Good!” by Shelbi Bagood, fifth grade, St. John Vianney School, Kailua
SIXTH-EIGHT GRADE
- First: “Vocation Path” by Olivia Tupou, seventh grade, St. Ann School, Kaneohe
- Second: “Come With Me for This is Your Path” by Grace Trask, eighth grade, Holy Family Catholic Academy, Honolulu
- Third: “Let Jesus and Mary Direct Your Steps to Answer God’s Call” by Sophia Lafferty, sixth grade, Our Lady of Good Counsel School, Pearl City
