Head of Human Life International to speak at Life Symposium 2019

08/07/2019 by Hawaii Catholic Herald

Father Shenan J. Boquet, president of Human Life International

Father Shenan J. Boquet, president of Human Life International, will lead the all-day Life Symposium on Nov. 9 at the Kroc Center in Kapolei. He will also participate in other events on Maui, Kauai and the Big Island from Oct. 31 through Nov. 11.

Human Life International spreads the Catholic Church’s teaching on life and family in its mission to build a culture of life. It gives presentations on issues ranging from the dignity of the human person and the nature of marriage, to social justice and moral theology.

While in Hawaii, Father Boquet will meet with Bishop Larry Silva, Msgr. Gary Secor and diocesan staff; host training sessions with clergy; conduct a retreat with various ministries including respect life coordinators, youth and young adult leaders, campus ministries, and marriage and family ministries.

The Life Symposium on Nov. 9 will involve middle and high school students, the laity and religious with a special invitation to parents and young adult and youth ministry leaders.

Father Boquet was ordained in 1993 for the Houma-Thibodaux Roman Catholic Diocese in Louisiana, his home state, where he served as pastor, educator, diocesan consulter, presbyteral council chairman and diocesan administrator before joining Human Life International in August 2011.

The topics Father Boquet addresses in presentations around the world include the theology and dignity of the human person, the role of the priest in defending and serving life, the role of conscience, and other pro-life and pro-family topics.

A more detailed schedule of Father Boquet’s Hawaii activities will be announced later.
