Every Sunday at 10 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Parish in Pauoa Valley, Mass is celebrated in the “extraordinary form,” also known as the Tridentine or Latin Mass, the liturgy used prior to the renewal of the Second Vatican Council. The celebrant is the pastor Father Steve Nguyen. With Bishop Larry Silva’s permission and the pastor’s direction, parishioner Rick Fucini built a modest, high altar and a portable communion rail and bought four oil paintings for the sanctuary. “These enhancements foster an environment suitable for saying the Latin Mass, which continues to be well attended,” said Fucini.
