Photo: Life support

06/12/2019 by Hawaii Catholic Herald

The Hawaii State Council of the Knights of Columbus last month presented its 2018-2019 Faith in Action Life Awards to Council 6307 Kailua and Council 14620 Kaneohe. Accepting the awards on behalf of their councils were Grand Knights Robert Hoevel of Kailua and Paul de Vos of Kaneohe. The awards were presented by state deputy Michael Madix and chairman Chuck Furr. The collaboration of these two councils is an example of “unity,” the second of four Knights’ principles — Charity, Unity, Fraternity and Patriotism. The two councils represent three Windward Oahu parishes, St. Anthony, St. John Vianney and St. Ann, which have worked together for decades to support the Pearson Foundation’s Pregnancy Problem Center, which helps expectant mothers and the most vulnerable, the baby in the womb. The councils have donated more than $220,000 to the center, raised through annual luau and chicken sales chaired by Furr. (Photo courtesy of Chuck Furr)
