Hawaii’s Secular Franciscan Order elected its regional council officers May 18 at Holy Trinity Church in Kuliouou under the direction of the National Executive Council councilor Josh Molidor and witnessed by the Hawaii region spiritual assistant Capuchin Franciscan Father Mike Dalton.
Here are the new officers for the Ohana O Ke Anuenue Region: minister, Liz Ishimitsu, ofs, Mother Marianne Cope Fraternity (Oahu); vice-minister, Toni Rodrigues, ofs, Maria O Maluhia Fraternity (Maui); secretary, Aida Morales, ofs, Mother Marianne Cope Fraternity (Oahu); treasurer, Carole Shultz, ofs, St. Elizabeth of Hungary Fraternity (Kona); formation director, Jim Doyle, ofs, Mother Marianne Cope Fraternity (Oahu); and councilor-at-large, Bernadette Sung, ofs, St. Clare (Korean) Fraternity (Oahu).
Hawaii’s Secular Franciscans have six fraternities, two on Oahu, two on the Big Island, one on Kauai and one on Maui.
Jane DeRose-Bamman, ofs, the national secretary of the National Executive Council, in a letter of congratulations to the newly elected regional council, offered “prayers and support as they begin this important period of service for our sisters and brothers in the Ohana O Ke Anuenue Region. May God bless them for their willingness to serve!”
DeRose-Bamman also thanked outgoing regional minister Jim Doyle and the other members of the outgoing council for their service.
