A retreat is a time of quiet and prayer where you can get away from the daily rigors of life to gain a better and deeper perspective on life and your relationship with God.

Many people have experienced a “preached” retreat — a group retreat that is advertised as having a theme on which all the talks and reflections are based. This retreat is NOT that.

“Be still … and know” is a five-day silent directed retreat at St. Anthony Retreat Center, 3351 Kalihi St. in Honolulu, 5 p.m., Wednesday, July 24, through noon, Sunday, July 28.

The retreat is an individual prayer experience, enriched and guided by an assigned spiritual director, with whom you will meet beginning Wednesday evening, after dinner. Your experience on this retreat will mostly be determined by you and the Holy Spirit (with the help of your spiritual director) and may include various forms of prayer and meditation (e.g. Body Prayer, Breath Prayer, Centering Prayer, Lectio Divina).

A few art supplies will be available for exercising one’s creative spirit. You may also enjoy the beauty of God’s creation in mindful walking on the beautiful and tranquil grounds.

Cost is $450 for a private air-conditioned room and meals throughout the retreat. Towels and bed linens are provided. The retreat center will email a suggested packing list closer to the event date.

Registration and a $100 deposit are required by July 8 to secure your spot. Space is limited. Call 845-0065 to reserve a place.
