Bishop Silva has made the following appointments, effective July 1, 2019:

  • Reverend Pascual Abaya as Rector/Pastor of the Cathedral Basilica of Our Lady of Peace, downtown Honolulu.  [Note:  Msgr. Gary Secor will continue as Vicar General of the Diocese of Honolulu, but full-time as of July 1.]
  • Reverend Falaniko Atonio as Administrator of Our Lady of Sorrows Parish, Wahiawa.
  • Reverend Rico Bernadez as Chaplain to St. Francis Healthcare System of Hawaii.
  • Reverend Ernesto Juarez as Administrator of St. Michael Parish, Waialua.
  • Reverend Paul Li as Pastor of St. Philomena Parish, Honolulu.
  • Reverend Samuel Loterte, SSS as Pastor of St. Theresa Parish, Mountain View.
  • Reverend Romple Emwalu as Parochial Vicar of St. Elizabeth Parish, Aiea. (To be ordained a priest on May 17, 2019.)
  • Reverend Vincent Anh Vu as Parochial Vicar of St. Jude Parish, Kapolei. (To be ordained a priest on May 17, 2019.)
  • Bishop Silva announces the retirement of Deacon Ron Paglinawan from diaconal ministry, effective June 1, 2019. Deacon Paglinawan will still enjoy the full diaconal faculties of the Diocese of Honolulu.
  • Bishop Silva has appointed James “Duke” Aiona as a member on the Board of the Hawaii Catholic Conference, effective July 1, 2019 to June 30, 2022.
