‘Unplanned’ un-promoted
The movie, “Unplanned” about Planned Parenthood’s abortion mills in America was reviewed recently in the Hawaii Catholic Herald. I saw the movie as well as a similar prior one called “Gosnell” and was very upset to think that the Catholic Church and many Catholic organizations here in Hawaii did nothing to promote viewership of these films. The movies awaken us to the horrors of this barbaric procedure — killing unborn and nearly-born healthy babies and then selling their baby body parts. That’s what abortion is all about … it is not a choice … and more of us need to realize that.
We have many good Catholic organizations in Hawaii and I think they could have done more to promote viewership of these films. Our bishop and pastors should be stronger and more vigilant, even organizing and/or subsidizing group showings … or even a simple comment or two from the altar to alert the congregations. More needs to be done for the good of the unborn.

Too little, too late
I read your recent article on the movie “Unplanned” about the abortion industry in America today. I was also able to see the film at a local theater for the limited time it was shown.
It was shocking … not just the subject matter about the legal killing and dismembering of nearly-born healthy babies, and the wholesale selling of their body parts, but also the realization that so little is being done to by the Catholic community to protest and stop this barbaric procedure.
Your article may have been too little too late. We as Catholics (myself included) should be the first to speak out, actually SHOUT OUT, about the horrors of abortion. Our bishop and pastors should be shouting from the altars as often as possible and for as long as necessary to put an end to this holocaust. But they’ve been quiet … not one word to the congregations … no mention in church bulletins … no call to action … other than the January March for Life.
Why the “Sound of silence” from our churches, organizations and the Catholic community itself? Can the Hawaii Catholic Herald use its influence to stir the hearts and souls of Hawaii’s people to act?
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you.” (Jeremiah 1:5) That’s all we need to know.
With prayers that more can be done to save the babies.
