The Eucharistic Apostles of the Divine Mercy is hosting a three-day conference, “Divine Mercy and the Message of Fatima,” at the Hawaii Convention Center, May 24-26, that will feature relics of the sainted Fatima visionaries and a famous Fatima statue.
The conference will focus on the connection of the Divine Mercy devotion, inspired by apparitions of Jesus to St. Faustina Kowalska, to the messages given by Our Lady of Fatima in Portugal in 1917. The crucial messages will be re-emphasized with a new perspective proclaiming the Mercy of God.
On display at the conference will be the United Nations pilgrim statue of Our Lady of Fatima blessed by Pope Pius XII on May 13, 1947, and by the bishop of Fatima. It was displayed in the Meditation Room at the UN’s headquarters in New York for the first time on Dec. 8, 1952, and again for the centennial of Fatima in May 2017.
Hawaii Catholics will also have the privilege of venerating the first-class relics of St. Jacinta de Jesus Marto and St. Francisco de Jesus Marto, two of the three children to whom Our Lady of Fatima appeared.
The conference will feature an array of notable speakers who will talk about Divine Mercy and the Messages of Fatima.
The keynote speaker is Archbishop Bernadito Auza, the Vatican’s permanent observer at the United Nations.
The featured speaker, Father Donald Calloway, vicar provincial and vocations director of the Marians of the Immaculate Conception, will preach on the power of the rosary and about his amazing conversion through the intercession of the Mother of God.
Other guest presenters include:
Father Mark Wheelan, a missionary of mercy commissioned by Pope Francis during the Jubilee Year of Mercy in 2016
Americo Pablo Lopez-Ortiz of Puerto Rico, the current international president of the World Apostolate of Fatima (WAF)
Judy Studer, president of the Rhode Island division of WAF and custodian of the UN pilgrim statue of Our Lady of Fatima and the relics of the Fatima saints
Former NFL Cleveland Brown linebacker Eric Mahl, who gave up his career and wealth to become a Marian missionary of Divine Mercy.
The conference will include Masses, the rosary, the Divine Mercy Chaplet, confessions, eucharistic adoration, a healing service, praise and worship, and multi-media presentations.
Msgr. Gary Secor will be the main celebrant for the Saturday Mass. Bishop Larry Silva will celebrate the Sunday Mass and give the closing remarks.
