The $15 million capital campaign to renovate the 175-year-old Cathedral Basilica of Our Lady of Peace received an award last fall from the International Catholic Stewardship Council, an organization that promotes Christian stewardship and Catholic philanthropy.
The Parish Capital Campaign Materials award for excellence was presented to the cathedral’s capital campaign core committee members Mark Clark, Ed Coda and Betty Coda at the council’s 56th annual stewardship conference in Nashville, Oct. 28-31.
The campaign, developed by the advertising agency h&b Marketing, includes a website, a video, brochures and informational booklets, letters and other material incorporating the church’s rich color, detail and imagery. The effort so far has raised about $8 million.
“St. Damien was ordained a priest there and St. Marianne worshipped there as well, so the renewal campaign means a lot to us,” said Bishop Larry Silva.
The cathedral rector, Msgr. Gary Secor praised the ongoing restoration campaign.
“We are truly blessed to have such an amazing parish, generous donors and a team in place to help with the on-going efforts to raise the money needed for the repairs necessary to restore the cathedral,” he said, “and ensure she remains in service to the community for generations to come.”
The International Catholic Stewardship Council has more than 1,200 members from over 800 dioceses, archdioceses, parishes, Catholic organizations and professional firms nationally and internationally.
