For Gary K. Jose of Waianae, years of service and experience as a Knight of Columbus has culminated in his appointment as the District of Hawaii’s newest District Master.

Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree Supreme Master Dennis J. Stoddard, appointed Jose to the position for a two-year term, from Sept. 1, 2018, to Aug. 31, 2020.

As District Master, Jose leads the Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree in performing patriotic activities in various assemblies throughout Hawaii.

Sir Knight Jose comes to the office of District Master after many years in the fraternal organization as a member and officer at the local, district and state levels. At the local level, he serves as Grand Knight for the Bishop James J. Sweeney Council 11485 at Sacred Hearts Church in Waianae where he was formerly the financial secretary.

Jose was awarded Knight of the Year three times by the Hawaii State Council. At the district level, while serving as District Deputy, Jose was twice awarded the District Deputy of the Year by the Hawaii State Council.

At the state level, he served as State Youth Director, Special Olympics Chairman and Public Relations Chairman.

In 2009, Jose became a member of the Fourth Degree of the Knights. He serves as Faithful Navigator (president) of the Bishop James J. Sweeney Assembly 1826 and has received the Faithful Navigator of the Year Award from the District of Hawaii.

Jose was Executive Assistant to the late former District Master Deacon Kin Borja and to former District Master William Rodrigues.
