Kalanianaole parish lights
Those driving along Kalanianaole Highway in Kuliouou have been treated with many wondrous lights coming from Holy Trinity Church. The display is the work of about 35 parishioners who came together on a Sunday afternoon to decorate the outside of their church. They had no plan, just hundreds of lights, enthusiasm and the desire to spread the light of Christ to their neighbors, inviting all to experience the Christmas joy of their church. The creative decorators ranged from 5-year-olds to parish seniors. All had fun sharing the Christmas spirit. Some brought decorations that had graced their own yards. From the Merry Christmas sign to the Nativity scene, the glow of Christ’s coming shines brightly. Drive by and enjoy the great lights. (Photo courtesy of Charlotte White)

Holy Family paraders
Eighth graders Mysha McGarry and Aidan Fraiola portrayed Mary and Joseph for the St. Ann Church and School float in the Dec. 1 Kaneohe Christmas Parade. A team of staff, parents and volunteers decorated the festive float which was accompanied by students from grades 1 through 8 walking the three-mile parade route wearing multi-cultural outfits representing many countries celebrating this year’s theme, “Its A Small World — Celebrating Diversity at Christmas.” Baby Jesus rode on the float adorned by a giant wreath, flags and a banner that read, “The kingdom is the Lord’s and He is the ruler of all nations.” (Psalm 22:28) The youth also carried the St. Ann’s banner and passed out stickers and Mass flyers to the parade watchers. St. Ann’s float was awarded a certificate and trophy for first place for a youth marching unit. (Photo courtesy of MaryRose Timmons)
