Bishop Larry Silva on Dec. 8 blessed 14 rare relics, mostly of saints, at St. Michael Parish in Kailua-Kona, donated to the Big Island church by Richard and Virginia Fischer of Virginia. Each relic came with its letter of authenticity, most dated from the 1950s. Here is how the relics were labeled: Relic of the True Cross; Relic of the wood from the altar over St. Peter’s; Relic particle of the bone of St. Matthew, Apostle and Martyr; Relic particle of the bone of St. Luke the Evangelist; Relic particle of the bone of St. Bartholomew, Apostle and Martyr; Relic of the flesh of St. John Vianney, Third Order of St. Francis; Relic particle of the bone of St. Anthony of Padua, Doctor of the Church; Relic dust of the body of St. Teresa of Jesus (Avila), Virgin; Relic particle of the bone of St. Phillip the Apostle; Relic particle of the bone of St. Maria Goretti, Virgin and Martyr; Relic particle of the bone of St. Elizabeth Ann Bayley Seton; Relic particle of the bone of St. John Neumann; Relic out of the body of St. Pius X; Relic particle of St. Jude Thaddaeus, Apostle and Martyr.
