Diocese schedules sessions to discuss physician-assisted suicide implications

The Diocese of Honolulu is holding discussion sessions in January and February for clergy and parish staff on the pastoral implications of the new Hawaii law permitting physician-assisted suicide.

Here is the schedule:

Sessions for explanation, discussion and questions on physician-assisted suicide

For: Priests and deacons, parish staff, those involved in ministry to the sick and homebound, those involved in funeral and bereavement ministry

Oahu

  • Honolulu: Thursday, Jan. 3, 10 a.m., Co-Cathedral of St. Theresa, Honolulu
  • Central/Leeward Oahu: Thursday, Jan. 17, 7 p.m., Our Lady of Good Counsel, Pearl City
  • Windward Oahu: Tuesday, Feb. 12, 12:30 p.m., St. John Vianney, Kailua

Neighbor Islands

  • West Hawaii: Monday, Jan. 14, 10 a.m., St. Michael, Kailua-Kona
  • East Hawaii: Tuesday, Jan. 15, 10 a.m., St. Joseph, Hilo
  • Kauai: Wednesday, Jan. 16, 10 a.m., St. Raphael, Koloa
  • Molokai: Tuesday, Jan. 22, 10 a.m., St. Damien, Kaunakakai
  • Maui: Thursday, Jan. 24, 10 a.m., Christ the King, Kahului
  • Maui: Thursday, Jan. 24, 6:30 p.m., St. Theresa, Kihei

Each session will last at most 90 minutes.
