The five instrumental and vocal musical ensembles of St. John Vianney School in Kailua will present the free holiday concert “Christmas with a Twist,” Dec. 6, at 6:30 p.m.

The school music director Sarah Young will conduct the school’s Beginning Band, Beginning Orchestra, Senior Choir, Concert Band and Concert Orchestra.

The ensembles are made up of students from grades one through eight.

The groups will perform a mix of traditional Christmas carols and songs with a twist. “Angels We Have Heard on High” will be performed with a rock beat and the classic “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies” from “The Nutcracker” becomes “Secret Agent Sugar Plum” mixed with a spy musical theme.

The students will perform in the parish church at 920 Keolu Drive, Kailua. Donations to the music program are welcome. For more information, call the school office at 261-4651.
