Members of Hawaii’s Vietnamese Catholic Community carry a flower-laden platform carrying three reliquaries in a procession at the Mass for the feast of the Vietnamese Martyrs at the Co-Cathedral of St. Theresa in Honolulu, Nov. 25. Bishop Larry Silva celebrated the afternoon Mass commemorating 117 martyrs who were canonized by St. John Paul II on June 19, 1988. These saints, also known as Andrew Dung-Lac and Companions, are those whose names are known of the more than 130,000 to 300,000 who died for their faith during persecutions in the 19th century.
