Photo: Mass at Foster Point

11/01/2018 by Hawaii Catholic Herald

Bishop Larry Silva presided at an outdoor Mass at Foster Point on Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam on Oct. 21. The event is an annual tradition, but the bishop received a special invite to preside at it this year from Air Force chaplain Father Peter Dumag, who is the former vocations director for the Diocese of Honolulu. Pictured are, from left, two local Knights of Columbus, master of ceremonies Deacon Modesto Cordero (third from left), Air Force chaplain Father Jesus Navarrete, Deacon Gary Streff, Deacon Raul Perez, Bishop Silva, Navy chaplain Father John Shimotsu, altar servers, Air Force chaplain Father Dumag, and a Knight of Columbus. The outdoor Mass had originally been set for Aug. 26 but was rescheduled due to Hurricane Lane. (Photo courtesy of Prince of Peace Catholic Community)
